AlumierMD Peels remove the outer dead layers of the stratum corneum (skin). This clears dull, sallow skin and aids better absorption of the after-care products given to you as part of your peel (included in the price). Your skin care professional can customise the peel according to your skin profile and concerns.

Chemical peels are classified as superficial, medium, or deep. The strength of a chemical peel is determined by the type of ingredients used, their concentrations and the pH of the formulation. Superficial peels exfoliate to various levels of the epidermis (top layer of skin). Medium-depth peels treat through the lower dermis levels (top 3/4 layers), and deep peels will create more peeling down to the lower levels of the skin, addressing more advanced skin concerns.

REFINING CLAY MASKS - FOR LUMINOUS SKIN

AlumierMD Refining Clay Mask is a highly effective facial treatment to refine and purify the skin. A unique blend of clay and exfoliating ingredients removes dead skin cells and promotes skin renewal while clearing trapped oil. This unique experience also includes brightening enhancers, followed by targeted treatment serums to address each skin concern. The result is a reduction in the appearance of blemishes and excess oil, while soothing and maintaining hydration.

The treatment takes between 30-45 minutes depending on the area treated. We always allocate 45 minutes to the appointment time to ensure a complete medical history and consultation has taken place, as well as taking clinical before and after photos.

In most cases, a light to medium peel will create tighter skin and some fine shedding for up to seven days before fresh new skin is revealed. After a peel, you can still go out and attend work, as in most cases you can reduce and hide the flaky, dry look by using the home-care creams we provide or the Alumier tinted SPF.

We offer a selection of superficial to medium depth peels known for their excellent results and safety profile. The products contain only natural pure acids, antioxidants and brightening booster ingredients which are all very gentle yet highly effective on the skin.

We believe in repeated treatments for progressive and gradual results and to avoid the side effects and downtime associated with one-off deeper peels. As these are prescription-only peels, only health care professionals like doctors, nurses and advanced aestheticians can apply them in a medical clinic setting.

Our therapists have received extensive training from the pharmaceutical company that manufactures the peels to eliminate risks of chemical burns or prolonged healing times. This means the treatments are safe but offer excellent outcomes.

The results continue to work over the next 2 to 3 months with new cell regeneration. As with all aesthetic procedures, results are not entirely permanent as the ageing process continues to happen following the procedure. The requirement for a subsequent treatment will be based on age, skin integrity, depth of scarring, ethnicity and environmental factors. We generally advise a course of three.

You will see a visible improvement within seven days after your first peel. We recommended a course of 3, with a month between each peel. So, if you have a big event like a wedding coming up, start the peel course 12 weeks before the big day.

Developed back in 1975 by dermatologist Thomas B Fitzpatrick, the Fitzpatrick Scale is a widely used method of classifying the amount of pigment in a person's skin, and its reaction to sun exposure (primarily how much/how quickly someone would tan or burn without wearing any SPF).

The Fitzpatrick Scale is used in many different ways. For example, it allows dermatologists to assess a patient's skin cancer risk. It allows aestheticians to calculate safe doses of laser for hair removal or scar treatments. And it can be used to assess the risk of premature skin ageing from the sun.

How does the Fitzpatrick Scale work?
The Fitzpatrick Scale features six different skin types, all of which are based on skin colour, and how it reacts to sun exposure.

Type I: The palest shade, this type of skin always burns, and never tans. It also tends to freckle easily, and is often accompanied by red or blonde hair.
Type II: Also fair in colour, this skin type usually burns, usually freckles and tans minimally. It's typically accompanied by blue, grey or green eyes.
Type III: This skin type tans uniformly, but sometimes burns mildly. Hazel or light brown eyes are typical.
Type IV: Usually an olive or light brown skin tone, this skin type tans easily and burns minimally. It's generally accompanied by brown hair and brown eyes.
Type V: Typically dark brown in colour, this skin tone tans easily and rarely burns. Hair and eyes are typically dark brown too.
Type VI: This is the darkest skin colour. Deeply pigmented, its tans deeply, never burns and never freckles.

Beautiful skin doesn't happen overnight. A single chemical peel can provide the immediate effect of bright and radiant skin. However, more significant results in treating textural issues, fine lines and inflamed acne take time.

It's our advice to time your treatments, to avoid any special occasions within a 14-day period of a procedure. This should ensure that any residual swelling or redness, if experienced, has subsided following your AlumierMD chemical peel treatment.
